Welcome to the world of Tecmo Super Bowl! Here I'll explain what to do if you're new to this game
1:Pick a good team. I made the mistake of starting out playing as the Browns and I really stunk it up. For beginners, I suggest the Giants. They have a good running game, a good passing game, and an excellent defense. They are the most balanced team in the game. If you don't want the Giants then I suggest either the Bills or 49ers. Both of these teams have great offenses, but their defenses are VERY underrated. Also, the 49ers and Bills have slightly easier schedules than the Giants.
2:Learn to play defense. I'll go over the strategies in a different section, but learning defense is much more important than learning offense. You must prevent the other team from scoring. You will inevitably have to deal with turnovers, and you must be able to learn how to prevent other teams from getting touchdowns, and forcing them into field goals.
3:Don't get discouraged. This game is very, uh, flighty. I went 16-0 with the Cleveland Browns, and you would think that I would be a lock for the super bowl. Wrongo! I lost my first playoff game to the Denver Broncos. even the best can be beat.
Play to your strength. If you are the Raiders, you should only pass the ball on 3rd downs. If you're the 49ers, I would not bother running the ball at all. In this game, there is no such thing as opening up the passing game with you're running game. Use your teams best player. You have to be careful though....
Injuries This will be the hardest thing you have to deal with, other than trying to win the super bowl if you're an AFC team. Losing a player to injury can destroy your season. People who have played with Philadelphia and lost their starting quarterback, know this all too well.
TurnoversThis is true in this game as it is in the real NFL. If you turn the ball over a lot, you will lose. You have almost no control over fumbles. The best way to avoid fumbles is to not shake the defenders off of you and to run out of bounds when you know you will be tackled. Even if you don't make it out of bounds, there's a good chance the fumble will fall out of bounds if you're running along the sideline. Interceptions are much easier to avoid. It's gotten to the point where I can throw less than 3 int's in a season. MORE TO COME
